Hi everyone. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I seem to have an issue with Vegas 7 Platinum locking up on me when I load large files. This mostly seems to happen when I load files from my PVR. I use a Mustek PVR H-140 to record my DJ/VJ sets. The resulting files are usually pretty large (it records for 4 hours max and the files are about 3gb). They are recorded as ASF files. I then take those and load it into Vegas and use that to pull shorter clips from the file for various reason.

The problem mostly seems to happen when I try to change the zoom size using the horizontal scroll bar. Sometimes it just stops responding (stops drawing the frames, no buttons respond, eventually I get the (Not Responding) prompt in the title bar.

At first I thought this was a software conflict but I had to rebuilt my whole system recently and I installed Vegas first and tied it and the problem still happened.

Anyone else experienced anything similar and found a solution?

Thanks
Steve

If I were you, I would copy and paste your issue into an email to sony and they will help you. Everytime I have had an issue with something they always had the answer for me.

I think you need more virtual memory. 1 g is not a of for 1hr project so ad stick memory

I have two SATA2 drives, and I put a 4-gig (the max) virtual swap file on each one. This seems to work okay since they're both fast drives, and pre-allocating the swap space means that it can go ahead and use them without having to allocate the space. It seems to work well.

You guys may be on to something there, I hadn't thought about the swap file. I'll play and let you know the results.

Thanks!
